Nightjar: Talk, Soup & Walk
May 29, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
£5The Nightjar!
Experience the unique call of the Nightjar in an atmospheric setting, with local bird enthusiast Richard Hibbert. The Tamar Trails Centre, near Gulworthy, is the venue to find out more about this nocturnal bird, starting with a talk by Richard, followed by soup and a roll at the Beech Café, and then out onto the Trails to hopefully see and hear the nightjar.
Nightjars are summer visitors to the Tamar Valley, arriving in April for a short breeding season. Their habitat is heathland and forest clearings. In the Tamar Valley, they reside on a former mine site near Gulworthy, where the mine spoil has been regenerated as open heathland with occasional scrub, trees and pines.
Please bring a torch, wear suitable footwear and dress for the weather.
Booking is essential for this event, as places are strictly limited. £5 per person.
Please call 01822 833409 or email info@tamartrails.co.uk to secure your place. Sorry no dogs.
